Albert Dailey/Stan Getz, January 1983 — Irvington, New York

This tape is a gem. Stan Getz invited me to his estate in 1983 to record his associate, pianist Albert Daley. Stan knew of my high quality equipment and wanted to capture Albert on it and in Stan’s studio. As luck would have it Stan sat in on several of the performances. The result is magical; a completely mature, relaxed session of superb musicians, either solo or interacting with each other. Only two microphones (B&K omni’s) were used directly to a Levinson/Studer ML 5 A80 tape recorder, further enhancing the natural ambience of the proceedings. Albert's playing on his solo tracks is worth the price of admission on its own. Stan loved Albert’s playing, and rightly so, as you’ll hear.
