Where technology meets art

Geof Bradfield Saxophone Quartet, May 2023 –
Chicago, Illinois

This intriguing session is a Chicago tenor saxophone tribute, consisting of a signature song associated with each of five Chicago tenor players:  “Canadian Sunset” (for Gene Ammons); “Violets For Your Furs” (for Von Freeman); “The Shadow of Your Smile” (for Eddie Harris); “The Way You Look Tonight” (for Johnny Griffin); and “Bearcat” (for Clifford Jordan). Each of the musicians paying tribute on this performance is a veteran of the Chicago scene -- Geof Bradfield, tenor saxophone; Ben Waltzer, piano; Joe Policastro, bass; and George Fludas, drums.  All are stellar, well-seasoned musicians,  from the wonderful rhythm section to the exciting improvisations of Geof Bradfield, the playing will reward any attentive listener.  Enhancing the listening experience is the recording itself, which was done to a custom Studer/Revox C-278 8- track tape recorder through a Grace m801MK2 microphone preamp.  Between the music and the recording quality, this session is not to be missed.

To order an analog tape copy (direct off the master ($250.00) or a production copy ($150.00) of this performance, please contact jonathanhorwich@me.com for details. Note, a direct digital copy of the tape master may be available as well.
