Veteran jazz trumpeter and flugelhorn master Dr. Bob Lark has directed many bands in more than 20 years as Director of Jazz Studies at DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois. But here we find him in an intimate and unusual setting—solely with piano and bass.  In this pared down arrangement of musicians, all is exposed--and so it is here, to our benefit--with the musician’s rising to the challenge and playing exquisite musical standards.   This beguiling performance was appropriately captured with vintage microphones of the highest quality.  If you want to hear intimate jazz recorded at the highest level, this is for you.
